Who we are
This site is published by Antonio, an individual trading as HomeCostDesk ("we", "us"), with an address for correspondence at Address omitted for security. If required, write to legal email and the details will be provided.
Antonio is the data controller for the limited personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@homecostdesk.online.
The short version
- Everything you type into a calculator stays on your device. The calculators run entirely in your browser. Your home size, insurance details, policy numbers, claim numbers and letter contents are never transmitted to us or stored anywhere.
- We do not ask for your name, email or phone number, and we do not operate a newsletter or a quote form.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information with contractors, insurers or lead buyers.
- Our advertising partners do set cookies and collect data. That part is described below.
Information we collect
Information you give us
Only what you choose to send by email. If you contact us, we hold that message and your address for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of any correction you have reported.
Calculator inputs
None of it reaches us. All calculation happens locally in JavaScript. This includes the claim letter generator: the names, addresses, policy and claim numbers you enter are assembled into text in your browser and never uploaded. Closing the tab discards them.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, browser user agent, pages requested, timestamps and referring page — for security and to keep the service running.
Local storage
We store one item in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme preference. It stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Advertising and cookies
This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. To do this:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and the NAI opt-out page.
- Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy & Terms site.
We do not control what these third parties collect, and their practices are governed by their own privacy policies.
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland
Where required, we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set, using a certified consent management platform, and you may withdraw consent at any time through the same interface.
Our lawful bases are: consent for advertising and analytics cookies; legitimate interests for server logs and security; and legitimate interests for answering correspondence you initiate.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your national supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, email privacy@homecostdesk.online.
If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising in exchange for money. Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of targeted advertising. To make a request, email privacy@homecostdesk.online. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request for targeted advertising.
Children
This site is intended for adults making decisions about property they own or occupy. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with security needs, typically no more than 90 days. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the matter and any follow-up.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because we do not collect or store calculator inputs, there is no database of your project or policy details to breach — the safest data is data never collected.
External links
We link to third-party sites such as government agencies, standards bodies and manufacturers. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and where required by law we will seek fresh consent.
